5 Activities That Help To Reduce Anxiety

Remember when you were a child? What got you excited? What did you worry about? Was it the first day of school, an exam, or Christmas? Events and expectations can be exciting or frightening depending on how you perceive them. In essence, how we decide to think and feel determines our emotional state. 5 Ways Laughter Can Improve Your Health

A few years ago, I took a standup comedy course that was quite fascinating. Our homework included analyzing each day to discover what was humorous about it. Some days it was easy and other days it was hard but just having to do this exercise led to a habit of not taking life so seriously. It was great!

5 Ways Play Can Benefit A Child

In our previous blog post, we discussed how anxiety and depression can set the stage for bullying. One simple solution could be "play." This will make sure that they feel capable of standing up for themselves if a situation arises that involves them being bullied. Having open... read more

Bonnie J. Leadbeater, a professor of psychology at the University of Victoria who led the study states, "Children's early mental health problems can set the stage for abuse by their peers. Just as some children learn to read with greater difficulty than others and require extra assistance when they begin to lag behind their peers,... read more

How Can I Tell If My Child Is Stressed?

As parents, stress is often considered to be a part of life. With bills to be paid, a home life, social life, and a career, it’s easy to become overwhelmed. However, sometimes we forget that even though childhood seems carefree, there are many events that can place stress on a child. Pediatrician Michelle L. Bailey says that the first step in determining whether or not your child is stressed is by asking them directly. This will help you find what sparks the stress in the first place. For example:
